burg breakfast & brunch

Burg Breakfast & Brunch

The Early Bird
Banana macadamia nut waffles, avocado toast, savory bowls, fried chicken and waffles, cinnamon monkey bread, and breakfast poutine - need we say more? Only to mention the day-break charcuterie with mini buttermilk biscuits, honey butter, and dark chocolate breakfast bark.

1201 Bagels
Don’t let the drive-thru and walk-up fool you; this place is legit. 14 different types of bagels, 12 spreads including hollandaise, crisp fresh veggies decorate their salads, and gluten-free or vegan options are bountiful. A great spot to stop prior to a hike, bike ride, or adventure just off the freeway.

Hayday
Hayday is a bakery in downtown Ellensburg, open seven days a week with a rotating list of seasonal treats, coffee, tea, beer, wine, and cider. They have delicious vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options and are even open to pups, too!

local lunch spots

Local Lunch Spots

Lunchbox Café
An introvert's dream, Lunchbox Café boasts a kiosk to order and three ways to enjoy with a drive-thru, walk-up, and covered dining area if you want to stay a while. Pouring coffee roasted just down the street by Country Crow, the café offers vegan, veggie, gluten-free, and carnivore-friendly options.

The Red Pickle
Easygoing is the name of the game at the Red Pickle, a brick-and-mortar that once started as a (very) successful food truck. They start strong with tacos, wasabi fries, and kung pao Brussels sprouts, then run wild with flavor collabs you never knew you needed, like double cheeseburgers with chimichurri sauce and sriracha mayo, salmon salad with lemon wasabi vinaigrette, and craft cocktails that you can't miss.

Daily Bread & Mercantile
A family-owned business with old-fashioned hospitality whose freshly baked bread, loose-leaf teas, and handmade candies gift delicious smells to the neighborhood. Let the window-shopping of tasty treats entice you to pull over for breakfast paninis, homemade soups, quiche, kolaches, pie by the slice, and face-size cinnamon rolls.

The Palace Café
The Palace Café has been serving Ellensburg deliciously for over 100 years, with the doors first opening in 1892. House-made strawberry lemonade, prime rib, surf and turf, seared ahi tuna salads, and smokey mesquite BBQ burgers are just a fraction of the plates offered, and be warned - it will inspire an afternoon nap.

happiest of hours

Happiest of Hours

The Pearl
Their daily happy hour includes $6 double-shot cocktails, beer pints, and local wine pours, with three hours to celebrate and savor.

The Tav
An Ellensburg classic dive who doesn't have a website because they simply don't need one. This low-maintenance town gem and their mounds of food, pool, and well sips await you behind the door.

The Mule
The Mule was a town fav before copper mug cocktails became trendy. Forget the basic vodka, ginger beer combo you're used to (but if you are a purist, the Matriarch cocktail is for you) and jump into the jalapeno-infused spirits, huckleberry accents, or the four mule flights if you're curious.

The Porch
Monday through Friday, take advantage of another three-hour happy hour with a house-infused apple bacon old-fashioned, seasonal sangria, and porch nachos for an afternoon adventure.

Cornerstone Pie
Fire-roasted pizzas, family nights, adventurous toppings, live music, and sweet potato fries. Added perks include local wine, growler fill-ups, and "half this/half that" specials that make sharing simple - Is there anything else to need?

dinner & date night

Dinner & Date Night

Ellensburg Pasta Co.
Consistently voted one of the best in Ellensburg, their service, wine list, and handmade pasta make this a sophisticated stop with central Washington comfort. Explore their crisp salads with house-made dressings, perfectly grilled steaks, braised beef ravioli, and seafood fettuccini with fresh bay scallop.

Orchard Restaurant
Highlighting seasonal ingredients, this Cle Elum gem brings fine dining to you with dry-aged steaks, Columbia River steelhead, and impeccable fresh sheets. We highly recommend reservations because this place books up quickly, but the dark chocolate pot de crème is worth it.

The Huntsman
They had us at whiskey library, but the Huntsman goes beyond that. Favoring a wood-fire grill and rotisserie, the menu might look familiar, but the accents, care, and service push this local spot as the delicious date spot in The Burg.

Julep
Awarded the Best Cocktails in Kittitas County, Julep is the adults-only restaurant that houses Mississippi Mud chicken, po'boys, and beer batter using Enchantment Brewing, with spirit-forward cocktails and decadent flavors.

Brix Wine Bar
Where art and rebellion meet wine, Brix beings a polished wine bar atmosphere meshed with the precision of a tattoo parlor - which this husband-and-wife duo also owns just down the street. Drink in local art, world-class labels, and delicate plates.

Canyon River Grill
Upgrade your water-view dining to the riverside at this gorgeous setting in the canyon that embodies a rustic serenity. Ichiban oysters on the half shell, wagyu beef, and Neah Bay halibut accompany the cliffs for "riverside dining at its best."

Whipsaw Brewing
A brewery that started as a hobby and was built by a retired logger, this Burg staple opened in 2016 and hasn't slowed down since. Charlie is the brewing mastermind and has built a collection of red ales, smooth wheat lagers, and a healthy dose of IPAs. His wife, Debbie, is the genius behind the deliciously floral Buzz on Blackberry Wheat Ale and the rotating hard ciders and meads on tap.

Iron Horse Brewing
Follow Vantage Highway to the black brick tasting room, where you will find an upbeat community gathering space, a healthy pour of banter, and experimental beers on tap that you won’t find anywhere else.

Housing both Ellensburg Brewery and the Tilted Tree Cidery, this spot has something for everyone. Sampler flights, rotating cider presses, cocktails, and apple wine keep these 16 taps busy.

Dark Moon Craft Beer & Wine

Ellensburg Canyon Winery
Combining red, white, and port wines, this scenic spot and its on-site vineyards transport you straight to wine country. In the winter hours, tastings and visits are by appointment only, but the patio and views are open year-round.

Ellensburg Distillery
Our state's second licensed distillery is one of their claims to fame. Their signature Amethyst Gin uses a hint of their farm-grown lavender, with various brandies, whiskeys, and vodkas, to keep this ward-winning pour company.
